CO₂
Solutions
Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) and Carbon Capture and Utilisation (CCU) are instrumental in lowering the carbon footprint of essential industries.
EcoLog has developed a total solution that encompasses efficient liquefaction services and large volume shipping — making CCS and CCU much more attractive.
Liquefaction Services
Revithousa Island, Greece
On Revithousa Island in Greece, DESFA and EcoLog is creating a Floating Liquefaction and Storage Unit. This shoreside facility has a total storage capacity of 33,000m³ and can liquefy CO₂ by using cold energy released during the regasification process of the nearby LNG terminal. This project was awarded funding through the European Innovation Fund.

Liquefaction Services
Port of Amsterdam
In the port of Amsterdam, EcoLog is developing a shore bound liquefaction facility, part of a dual-purpose terminal. CO₂ can be liquefied through the cold energy generated by the regasification of imported liquid hydrogen. The terminal features 25,000m³ of storage in its first phase, to be expanded further as the market increases.

Combined Capacity
With just these two facilities, EcoLog can aggregate over 10 million tonnes of CO₂ per year. This can be used for either CCS or CCU, or a combination of the two. This makes EcoLog one of the largest European players in the CO₂ sector.
Liquid CO₂ Vessels
EcoLog is in an advanced stage for the development of a purpose-built liquid CO₂ vessel. By moving the CO₂ at low pressure, the vessel is capable of transporting larger volumes, directly resulting in a reduction in cost. The vessel features 24,000m³ and 40,000m³ in capacity, with an LNG propulsion system. EcoLog is currently working towards yard selection and a building contract. This puts us on track to deliver the final design and the full spec for contracting in the first half of 2027. This process will be executed in step with the development of the liquefaction services, so that clients can be assured that both will be available simultaneously.

Quality & Integration
With EcoLog owning and operating both the liquefaction facilities and vessels, clients can take full advantage of the synergies, economies of scale and integration offered. EcoLog has developed its own CO₂ quality specifications, ensuring no unnecessary costs are expended for purification and that the liquid CO₂ meets the requirements of a wide range of permanent storage projects.
